Ok, i have this stretched out cube, and i want to put circular holes all along the side, i click on the cube, then on the cylinder, hit polygons>booleans>difference and it works fine until i get to about the 5th or so cylinder, then it makes the circle but it doesn't put a hole there. I mean, when you click on the object you can see a green circle where the hole is SUPPOSE to be, but it's not there. This usually only happens when i get to around the 5th or so cylinder. Is there any way around this that you guys know of? Am i doing something wrong? i have maya 4.5 by the way.

Must let you know now. Booleans in Maya suck. Everything else is great. I have noticed when I tried to do similar jobs like the one you are doing, I get the same problem and sometimes everything disappears. I wish I knew of a workaround. Someone might know.

Well i take some comfort in knowing it's not just me. But if anyone does know a way around it i would be very grateful.

First, Booleans in every single 3d app sucks. It is just a general problem with doing booleans on shells.

Couple things that might help: Make sure you delete the history. Do a polygon cleanup on the model. Booleans adds double verticies and other evil stuff in there that just screws up future booleans on the surface. Triangulating the surface might help too.
