hi.

I have just finish a human figure, is not low res but even so i have to smooth the mesh in order to get an smooth look and more high poly count.
I now want to rig the figure and put it in position to later model some cloth on top...i can get fast results if i rig and pose the figure before smooth it out....and in the other hand if i smooth the poly figure before i rig and pose i get very very slow results (yes..i have a slow computer)....

The issue is that i have to smooth the figure before i rig and pose because there are things that i can only model when the figure is smoothed...like some areas in the eyes, and also the mouth...and i have to do this before i combine the 2 halfs together to get a simetry for both sides...

If i go from 0 division to 1 maya begin to have problems...so the question is...

-is there any way to have an smoothed figure as the original that is goin to be rendered and other lower resolution figure to rig and pose to later transfer it to the high res version?

thanks and happy new year

Did you try using a Wrap Deformer. It works a lot like a lattice but instead uses low res geometry to deform your High res version. Also you can break up your Wrap deformer into diffrent pieces which makes certain things like blendshapes and such work a lot faster too.
