Using LW 8.3 on my Mac and LW 8.5 on my PC. Weightmap Shaded view in Modeler is very,
very slow on both platforms and versions of Modeler. Has anyone found a way to speed them up? Could certain graphics cards be faster than others?
Thanks in advance!

weightmap are not so fast to paint on lw, i prefer to not use airbrush on subpatch models, usually i paint poly version, then i change to subpatch.
a good way to paint weight is vertex paint plugin.

You can use vertexpaint for weightmaps. It doesn't support subpatches and it paints weights only for bones. Cool part is it is faster than airbrush in modeler and it has way many more options compared to it. It even shows bone deformations which is a good enough reason to use it. If you're not painting bone weights then you might create extra bones for the maps you want to create.

About other cards, I don't think it would make such a difference. It looks like painting weightmaps and showing them in modeler viewports is very difficult for modeler at the moment.
