Hi, I'm thinking of buying Michael Comet's Muscle System: it looks as if it were well worth the price. However, I'm after a shortcut again:
-are there any known issues with Windows and Maya 6.5 Complete? (OK, I'll go check the web page)
-Also, how much juice does it require: is a system like that even a good idea to try on a single-processor machine (top of the list though)? I mean, as influence objects are already slowish. Or should I wait until I have something stronger to run it with?
-I suppose it would be better if I made some custom stuff myself first, with deforming influence objects etc., but I'd also like an opinion on this: will the Comet system be too hard to understand without experience on the root level stuff?

Sorry for dummy questions but I always like to hear from people who have experience.

Heh I can reply here...Happy New Years to all! :)

Some answers:

- Maya 6.5 and Windows work just fine. The plugin functions the same in 6.0, 6.5 and 7.0

- Computer power, faster is better. More RAM is of course good. If you are planning on doing any really hires meshes you will probably want 2 gig of ram and some swap space just in case. The plus side is most features of the deformer can be turned on/off at will...so you can animate the rig pretty fast with just skinning, and then turn on relax, smooth etc only before caching or rendering.

- As far as ease of use...it comes with full tutorial documentation etc... The entire workflow is VERY similar to Maya skinning, so if you can do that, you should be able to use the system.

One other note, there is a FREE demo version (that has pretty limited features, the tutorial files will NOT work due to the demo limitations) but it would give you an idea of how it works and you could look at the docs that way.

-thanks

Hi, thanks again, I'm really glad there are some helpful people in the world. No problems with skinning etc. so I guess it'll soon be time to purchase your product.
