View Full Version : Inside 3ds max 4 problem

Well I started the Non-Organic Modeling tutorial where you are tought to build a toy fire truck.

I created the box with 3 lenght 3 width 3 heigth, created an instance, applied a meshooth and started modeling with the original box.

in text he explain that you must use the editmesh and the FFD modifier to create the negative space for the wheels, but how.
I tried some vertex pulling and a FFD 2x2x2x just like in figure 7.2 of the book but I can't get the result like in the book, al my vertices are a mesh.

I hope you can understand my problem and help me, cause I can't stand it any more

Good question ...

i resolved this problem by Not doing what the book said.


Some Vertex Pulling and a 2x2x2 Modifier is not Enough what you need is ( what i found ) a 4x8x4 ( see Picture ) i have both my object and my reference. i used a 4x8x4 simply because it was the only reasonable way of getting around this Form ... i know the Book says to use a 2x2x2 but what they really is needed here is a 4x8x4 or you could just as well used something different

you can make your own 2x2x2 modifier by selecting the numbers you would like aplyed to your geometry

- the book as a few mistakes and you need to turn around a situation to discover what is really going on ...

Specially in the Character Rigging Chapiters ... there's just too many Printing Mistakes that you finally Build your characters having to avoid using the explanations mentioned in the Book ....

But Over all this book is one of the Best for 3ds Max .. there is other ones but this one is very very tight ....
