i dont comment a lot here, but im an active "lurker" and this made me say something i've been wanting to express for a while.

in america, there's a huge gap between students of illustration and those doing more traditional fine arts. imHo, the illustration community tends to be endlessly more talented and skilled in the technical aspects of art while the fine arts community tend to do sometimes more substantial on content material... but often without the technical expertise (they seem to have been distracted by years of academic posturing, countering emphasis of traditional forms of representation that they forget that knowing basic drawing and design is vital).

i've often been disappointed at the disconnect...

yet in sites like cgtalk you find a re-connection...

and ESPECIALLY with our friends here from korea and china... a POWERFUL reconnection of the best of the technical illustration fundamentals mixed with a more traditional so-called "fine arts" sense of composition and design.

im not just impressed with this single work but am saying how thankful i am for you and all the other exceptionally talented cgtalk participants from china who are bringing it all together into such great artistry.

i really like how forms and colors of both the guy and the dragon compliment each other.

seems to be edgy against round - and warm tones against slightly colder ones.
