I can translate symmetrically, but can i split an edge loop symmetrically? As in, split all parallet edges on the left side, and have the same split edges on the right side?

Also, whenever I add new things to the geometry, symmetry stops working... help? :D

Figured I could use Clone  to solve the first problem, but some points don't seem to be moving at the same pace as the clones'...is there another way?

if you duplicated the geometry as clone or instance the other side should update too when you split one side.

If its one piece add egde with split control tool should do the job.

i dont use symmetry much yet so i dont know why it stops working. :hmm:

hope i helped a little.

When i deleted half the mesh, and cloned to get the other half, I have to merge them back in the end. Why does the shading appear different(one side darker than the other)?

That's because the normals of the clone, that you probably scaled in a negative axis, are inverted. You must freeze the transformations on the clone before performing the merge.

On a side note, I personally never merge a clone that way. When I'm done with one half, I delete the clone, and perform a Duplicate Symmetry, freeze the transformations, then perform the Merge.

I found that doing the first method, ie merging with the clone, can lead to problems if you freeze the transformations. Scaling in -1 is never a good idea, therefore the Duplicate Symmetry is more indicated.

Hope this helps

Yeah, I gave the clone a negative scale... Thanks again :)
