View Full Version : Multiple UVW on one object
thom905 12-30-2005, 12:40 AM I've just finish 3d modeling a pretty large character and now I am stuck unwrapping him. Just wondering if there is a way to have 2 or more different uvw planes on this one character, so I can have a larger area for better details?
I want to have the head to be on its own, the chest and back to be 2nd, arms and legs 3rd. Is there a way to do this instead of having all the body parts jamming in one uv planes?

Sure, just select the faces or polygons you want to apply the UVW mapping to and apply the little bugger :P

select all head polys and give em id 1...select all arm polys with id 2..hands with 3 and so on with appropriate uvw mappings...for example choose cylinderical for arms as they are more cylinder shape and so on. u can even apply multisubobject material for ur help and replacing it afterwards with ur painted texture....I am not sure but this is the proper way to texture a character...maybe someone else give u a good short tut on how to do this...hope this helps!!
