View Full Version : Still: Till Dawn (attention: 247kb image)
Hi there!
This is the first time for me to post something into this board. "Hello, I'm XerC!" :wavey: ;)
With the picture (you'll hopefully see) I tried not to focus too much on photorealism, but on a certain atmosphere, I wanted to create. It was inspired by what I see, when I look out of the window of my room.
Hope you like it. Criticism and comments are welcome!

Welcome, very nice 1st post, hope we'll see more.
Not really a crit as I think it's fine as it is but I wouldn't mind seeing the building with more dirt and general grunge.
Plus it might be interesting if there was a hint of a face looking out of one of the windows, maybe the one to the right of the red curtained window.
Thanks, Clanger!
A face could be creating some more suspense, and I think it would be a very nice idea, if it wouldn't change the atmosphere in a way I didn't mean it to do. :hmm: I tried to make it as unspectacular as possible. The moaning stone faces are hopefully adding a sad/depressing touch but a face could be too thrilling :argh: ;)
@Chili: Dankeschön, freut mich, dass es dir gefällt... Ich saß auch lange dran :insane:

I would really like to see a wireframe of that!
That means that you didn't do a very good job at "not focusing too much on photorealism".
:buttrock:
Looks damn good.
I do not dare, posting a Wireframe, for it would expose, that it's all just about lightning and texturing :p
Well no, I'll upload one as soon as I installed the new Cinema version
Thanks for your Comments so far, guys!

Hi! Me again! :)
Here is a (bad, sorry) wireframe of the picture above. I also added a size-reduced picture of the wall's dirtmap. Enjoy! :D

really nice and moody.
only thing I'd suggest is to add way WAY more dirt. Right now it's too clean and gives away the fact that it's cg. A bump map or texture of a plastered wall would do it tons of good.
gr8 pic , i really like it
very nice lightnin work :buttrock:

:hmm: für so stillleben hab ich nie genug gedult@.@
:applause: :applause: Very nice. I like it a lot and I don't think that walls need more dirt. I don't beleave that buildings in Germany are dirty :)

Very nice image, I like the reflection in the other window, nice touch.
Only things I'd say is I'd like some more detail in the window with the light on, your eye is drawn there but there's nothing to see, perhaps more ceiling detail or a figure in the window, would add just a bit more depth. The sculpture detail on the left would generate a bit more rain damage I think, they look a little odd to me midway down, more likely to be at the top or repeated perhaps? The drainpipe would have more stains from all the water & dirt being washed down from it. Perhaps a few wisps of cloud in the sky would be cool as well ;)
Cheers,
Kieron
Wow, sehr schön, ich will beim Anblick des beleuchteten Fensters sofort rein da, draußen stehen ist unangenehm! :D Krass wie sich das Licht des Fensters im Fenster an der anderen Wand spiegelt. Nice work man!
Thanks a lot, folks for your comments and suggestions!
I don't beleave that buildings in Germany are dirtyHaha! If you'd only know... We have some really crappy houses over here:D
Only things I'd say is I'd like some more detail in the window with the light on Hmm... You're not the first one telling me this :/ maybe you're right. I'll change it if I go over it again :)
more likely to be at the top or repeated perhaps? Damn! You got me :D Those figures are originally placed in two ROWS, but I was too lazy modeling tree or four different stone faces... But you're right again, I should have done so...
Thanks guys!
