hi people
i am trying to model a ring and am having a little trouble with the texture. i am trying to achieve the gold look .... i am currently using fall off under anistropy shader in 3d max. something is missing about the texture but i dunno what it is excatly.. anyone with advice will be appreciated. i have posted two versions of the gold ring texture i've attempted. i am not happy with either

hi cooperunionstud, iīd recommend using a proper environment in your scene because your reflections look some kind of wierd to me, maybe you should redesign the material, could also lead to unwanted results, why donīt you post an image of your applied material (material editor), think it would help out many people here in understanding your problem more properly...

i changed the scene enviroment to those of HDRI and i got this......the HDRI image has alot of blue pixels so i guess that contributed to the overall bluecast on the ring surface. however doesnt make it anymore golden.

What renderer are you using?

I did a GOLD shader for finalRender Stage-1

I'll share it if you want to? but it's 100% achievable in any other renderer...

Not a problem, however if you don't have finalRender Stage-1 you won't be able to use this material unfortunately...

As mentioned above, it's all in the environment. I suggest using an HDR image for the environment slot if you want good results.

i tried that tutorial already..and thats basically how i got to where i am now..but to be honest..that tutorial showed me that the method doesnt work to well..the texture generated doesnt look like gold...or silver.... its more like a brass kind of material.....and words on this..where are all the skilled CG artists at? lol... sigh....

But if loocas is willing to share the specs for his gold, I'd be happy to try and make a 3dsm version of it.
