I want a graphic tablet to use with Photoshop (for painting). I know everyone say buy Wacom. I've very poor at the moment and have about £50 availavle to get one. Can you get a resonable one for this money (in the UK) or is it better to wait until I have some more money.

I've found this one on Kelkoo (http://www.mouse2house.co.uk/index.php?show=landingpage&prodid=A-WAC6) - is it any good? How can you tell from the spec if the pen reacts to pressure or do they all do that?

Thanks.

The Volito is decent, but nothing special. If you've never used a tablet before, it's ok to try it out, and it's pretty cheap, too. The more expensive models are better in every sense, of course!

Thanks. Do they all react to the pressure of the pen? What makes the better ones *better*?

Thanks.

I've had three wacom alternatives in the past.

Never had a wacom. Now that my tablet pc has wacom technology I see why wacoms are so much better. Might be worth waiting.

Wacoms are more accurate, have higher and more varied sensitivity. The pens are nice and dont require batterys.

Their drivers work better with photoshop and other programs.

Yep, when you use photoshop for drawing/color work especially that's crucial. If you use it more as a graphic design program it might not be bad to get an alternative but the difference is noticeable between brands.

All the Wacoms have pressure sensitivity, but the more expensive ones are faster (driver dependant, probably), more accurate, more sensitive (it takes just a mild touch to activate it) and more configurable (again, driver dependant). I kept my Volito for almost a year, then traded for an Intuos and never looked back. The Intuos feels almost like pencil on paper, as opposed to plastic on plastic! More- the A5 size is preferred by many people over the A6 size. Alas, it cost six times more...:D
