View Full Version : Newbie: Interior: Fallout Shelter
TheCaptn 11-26-2002, 02:28 PM I feel kinda shabby posting this here among so many mind-blowing works... But I'll get there one day.
This is my first foray into still scenes (only ever done low-poly game models before, and even then I'd fob of the skinning work on to others *evil grin*)
Inspired by the whole cold-war/civil defense era.
(It's as finished as it'll ever get... I'm taking the lessons learned here and moving on to new ideas.)

nothin' wrong with the picture
btw maybe you can add some grainspots to the pictures (caused by the fallout ofcourse) ^_^
The generator looks like it doesn't cast shadows. The image also looks a little too clean.
Looks good though, nice job!

It actually does cast shadows, but the camera position places the other parts of the generator/belt/ventilator precisely over the shadows so you can't see them properly.
I know it looks weird. Same deal for the textures, I know they should be more gritty but like I said I want to move on and try other scenes/techniques.
That one took me nearly 2 weeks, because of a relatively steep learning curve. I don't like looking at it anymore. ;)

From what i see, the main light scource isnt casting a shadow, or this is just a good trick of perspective. As my image shows, the position of the light shouldnt be casdtnig a shadow as it is in the image. Maybe mi wrong, like i said, it could be a crazy perspective trick.

Optical illusion... Probably because of the fish-eye like effect of the camera.
There's only 2 lights in the scene. That main one, and another one in the little alcove where the ladder is (trying to simulate reflected light). The main light is about 1.5 meters out past the end of the bed.
If you look at the food boxes on top of the bed you'll notice that both are fully lit by that light, despite one being turned slightly away from it.

Thanks for clearing that up, Only two lights in the scene eh? Looks pretty darn good for only two lights. Maybe go in and add a bunchj of little omnis all over to simulate radiosity, and the light that bounces off the other objects.
