View Full Version : rendering quality images (w/ rhino, flamingo)
hey,
anybody know how to solve the rhino rendering problem. I'm used to form z rendering where i render an image at a size and resolution (150 dpi) but rhino only renders @ 72 DPI. No matter how large (ponts) i make the image it still lacks the quality i want.
suggestions?
thanks

V3 of Rhino doesn't use DPI but you can change the pixel resolution of the output from the standard Viewport Resolution to a custom size or one of the predifined sizes. Go to: Tools > Options > Rhino Render; where it says Resolution (default is Viewport), choose the down arrow and make your choice. When I was still doing renderings using Rhino, I would typically do them at something like 3000 pixels wide, which when brought into a program like Photoshop, can be opened in a document set to 150dpi or 300 dpi and be pretty clean looking. Also, you can up the antialiasing further down in the menu if needed. Maybe you've got the jaggies because AA is off.

dpi is for print ONLY. This, in no way, effects the quality of the rendering.
As previously suggested, you should change the dpi in photoshop (or similar) when you edit your image. That way when you crop to the actual print size you can maximize your quality without resampling the image (which, by the way, will cause you to lose quality).
Changing dpi does nothing other than telling the printer how big the image does. BUT make sure when you change the dpi you don't have "resample image" checked or you will merely make the image bigger (aka, resizing to more pixels)
