Please tell me what I believe to be true is not. Please tell me that they somehow managed to recreate the glittering caves that they retreat to from Helms Deep and that this is not one of the things that is missing. Either way this is going to be one hell of a GREAT movie.

speaking of Gollum, is this the best image of him on the net? Anyone got a better one?

This has just been reported on Aint-it-cool-news..
There is some speculation regarding the review.. the battle isnt 45 mins long its 15 apparently. There is also a really good quality image of Gollums eyes. I was oringally going to post the image itself but I thought its a spoiler so heres the url instead

For people who dont want to see them.
Here is a direct link to the eyes themselves, just the image:

Come on people, there has been great debate around the internet regarding this image of Gollums eyes.
People still think they are rubber and a puppet :)
Arnt they fabulous.

Jason Schleiffer stated numerous times that gollum is 100% CG , so i dont think there is a need for a debate about that.
If people think its a puppet that means Weta pulled it off with the photorealism and my hats off to them.

oh i completely agree Sheep.. it is CGI.
But a discussion about gollum is always fun :)
Go to www.aint-it-cool-news.com and have a read, its a great laugh...
Like this for example:
"Looks suspiciously like glass eyes to me, and not the hyper-pure, ultra-reflective shiny crystal look of CGI glass. Look at the shape of the reflection in his eyes - it's in a studio. Notice how the skin resembles that same silicon prop that Harry was trying to pass off as CGI the LAST time he had spoiler images? Maybe you should work in the effects industry for a couple years, then tell me it still looks like CGI, because if that image isn't from a practical, I'll eat my hat."
All i can say is well done Weta :)

That reflection could be anything..for all you know they made a HDRI of a studio/set just to raise these kind of speculations (now that, would be a real laugh, if it's true)
Anyway, you have no idea how much more realistic some renders become when you print them on film (i've seen this a couple of times, and it actually works)

Doesn't matter, it wasn't ment personal, it was just an answer in general.

I hope he has one of those italian chef hats. The punishment should fit the crime :D
Or even better , why dont you guys send a hat with "greetings from Weta digital" written on it and a pair of silverware wrapped nicely with the hat :)

I can't believe some of the comments posted by people about Lord of the Rings on that site. Especially the assholes who say Jackson's a dickhead and he's recking the whole story etc. etc.
Hang on... I think Jackson and his assistants are professionals, so that means they're good at what they do, in fact really good because they working on such a huge frikkin project which has gained so much admiration all over the world.
These people talk as if they've been there done that. I hope (i know) TT will rock just to stick it up these lame pricks.
As for Weta... geeze, i take my hat off to you guys. Your work on Fellowship was superb, i can only imagine how truly amazing the CGI in TT will be. Oh and knowing you're kiwis, you really make us Aussies jealous :)

The hat-eater comment on that site is hilarious.
He sounds very pompous and arrogant - I hope he´s wearing one of those musketeer hats, or a viking helmet!
BTW, I´m looking forward for more of you WETA guys outstanding work! TT will be released here in Brazil just in January 1st - December will be a looong month for us, I´m afraid ... :annoyed:
