View Full Version : Exploding Monitor
carakong 12-26-2005, 02:59 AM Hiya, my monitor exploded several days ago, it just keeps making huge banging noises everytime I turn it on, the power light is there but no picture comes up which is hardly surprising, I've no idea what it could be..
Do you think it can be fixed? I've only had it for just over a year and it will be a while before I have enough money for a new one... it was a really nice 19" flatscreen CRT iiyama as well...

most likely the bulb has exploded and in most cases when that happens you are screwed. if you have a plasma monitor the bulb can be replaced. This is a very common occurence and usually happens when the monitor is left on too long or the monitor is constantly switched on and off. I have had tons of tv's explode and its always been the bulb..
The reason i think it might not be the bulb thouch is because it keeps making the bang noide as you have stated, usually when the bulb goes, it only makes one big bang and then its shot.
It could have something to do with the power intake. Maybe a fuse is Blowing everytime you turn it on, and thats the noise, check the plug.
Also if it smells really wieerd that means its done.
I'd just call the manufacturer.

Leave the monitor off. In fact, I'd even unplug it form the wall, and take it somewhere, or call in repair guys, or whatever you have to do. If it's only 12 months old, there's liekly to be a warranty on it.
