I'm looking to upgrade my PC. As of now, my specs are
amd ahtlon 64 3000+ 2.0 ghz
1 gig of ram ( 2x512)
Geforce fx 5200 128 mb
K8 triton Agp 8x motherboard
100 gb maxtor 7200 rpm
I use mainly photoshop and 3dsmax 6, although I'll be upgrading to max 7 soon and I'll be using zbrush and maya most likely in the future. My systm runs pretty decent now, but I want to take out the lag when I use custom brushes in photoshop and speed up pretty much everything. I dont play a whole lot of pc games, but I want to have the option of playing doom 3, fear, stuff like that. I dont know how to overclock and all that either. Also a thing of note, my ram is two diiferent brands, does that slow performance much? Is it worth it to match them up. Is it worth it to get 2 gigs of ram for what I'm doing?
Is the Geforce 6800XT any good?
Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
BTW: I'm looking for a budget consious way to upgrade without overhauling my system, but I'm flexible.
