I have used System Suite for about eight years and it has proven itself many times.

Admittedly I was hoping for some freeware application... something along the line of AVG or Ad-Aware, but for cleaning the Registry. If I gotta pay, I'll pay, but sometimes the freeware stuff is better than the stuff that costs money.
Some of these apps can do more harm than good, so I was looking for a recommendation, rather than just try anyone that pops up during a search.

No doubt, many have their favorites and hopefully will chime in,
and some of them may be freeware.
As for System Suite, this is also a full bodied virus scanner (background and email) and you get regular updates (auto notification)) for a year included in the price (virus definitions and engine by Trend Mirco).
You get many, many utilites that are included which are mentioned on the page. If I hadn't used this program for so long I might not be as convinced,
but as I said, I've use it a very long time in computer terms.
No, I don't work for them or have any ties other than a user.
:)
Some utilites include:
*Firewall
*Zip Utilites
*Registry defrag
*Hard drive defrag and optimize
*Newly added spyware utility (features seem fairly limited at this point)
*Regisrty Editor
*File cleanup
*Virus scanner added to windows right click menu to scan selected files/folders

I appreciate your post, but that is exactly the type of tool I don't want. It's just like Norton and how they have 50 different tools that it conveniently psuedo-forced you to install, and has running all the time sucking up resources.
I love AVG for anti-virus. I have Ad-Aware for spyware.
Just want a quick and easy (and preferably free) tool for Registry.
Thanks for the post though. If I didn't already have a virus and spyware solution, I might consider

CCleaner is a good free tool. Also jv16 powertools is good. The newer version seems to be more like what you (and I) dont like though. But the best free and still available tool is reg cleaner, it was the version of jv16 powertools that was free before it became a bloated retail package. It disappeared for some time but I found it for you.

No problem here.
Just for the record, you can install or turn on/off any of the features you like, anytime you like.
I run the background virus and email scanner and have never had any trouble with them.
Looks like you're getting some other input, so...
