I normally place my PC on my desk but it takes up lot of real estate. I am thinking of placing the PC under the table on a platform 10 inches from the ground. What has your expereience been with regards to PC placement and DUST COLLECTION? Placing directly on the floor would be a NO NO for me as it would act as a dust collector. You think 10 inches from the ground on a wooden plank is safe or should I continue placing it on the desk to be safe?

Studies of PC Enclosures in conjunction with Ambient PIDP travel have shown that an ATX pc case will accumulate approx. 1.243% more dust per inch lowered from TTHP value - in a low TFCP\VM environment . This would put you at around 15% more internally collected dust per average square inch for the ATX case - at your suggested placement. Also - due to the increasing humidity the internally accumulated dust particles will be 12.3% more likely to group together into larger "Dust Bunnies" than those collected at the table top position.

*Positive Ion and Dust Particles

*Table Top Height Placement

*Treatment Frequency by Cleaning Personnel with or without a Vacuum Machine

Anevsky thanks for the info. I guess it will stay on the table

If you can, just grab some air filters and that would solve the problem. Just change it every few months and you'll be dandy.

My LianLi V2000B has no other choice but to sit on the floor. And I have a cat :). Everyone knows how many holes that case has in it. The dust build up isn't so bad really, it comes with a filter, and dusting it out every few weeks seems to keep everything nice and clean.

I've had my computer on the floor for many years -- I also have a cat and my rooms seems unusually susceptible to dust. I'm always confiddling with the insides of my computer and having the computer on the floor doesn't seem to generate any more dust than it did when I had it on my desk.

The only thing that I've found that lowers dust levels in there is by dusting my entire room once a week. Not only have I rid my desk of mouse induced "dust angels", but there is a significant decrease of dust accumulation inside my case. Vacuuming seems to help it to.

Seemed pretty logical -- The less dust there is in your room, the less chance dust has to invade your computer case.
