View Full Version : Question: Can i add fields to fur?

im trying to give my fur some gravity. if i select the fur and then try to add gravity it doesn't work. any help would be great. thank you

You need to use attractors and make them dynamic.

An alternative would be to buy Shave and a haircut which has much more intuitive way of working with dynamics and has its' own fur renderer. you can test it out for about two weeks here:

Select surface kill history and go create attrattor dynamic chain and set up a grid of emm. Select the particle nodes it makes in
h graph and ad the field.... suggest u also read the help files on attractor attributes, for controling the effects

fur is evil :( , i got countless problems with it when trying to make long hair for my character.

I'd recommend shave and a haircut also if you need serious hair simulation. Maya tends to crash a lot when you try to simulate collisions with fur.

Fur is not ment to be used for long hair, there is a tutorial on the a|w site showing another method for hair.
