I was wondering if anyone out there knew of any scripts/software that's similiar to RenderPal or Smedge that would work on Maya for OS X. Or if anyone had any ideas about scripting your own codes to make this possible please let me know.

greatly appreciated.

I believe Rush works on all OS's that Maya runs on.

You can find some info on it here:

I haven't used it, but the co-author of the book I'm working on swears by it.

well, since both of the programs you've cited work off of Maya's batchrender.exe and you pass batchrender a series of flagged values, it should be pretty easy for you to create an interface that allows users to select the values they want or read them directly from the maya source file.
Once everything is selected or read in, application of those values towards batchrender's flags is simple.

Adding render queuing is also simple but would add to the complexity of your program.

Of course, I don't program on a Mac, so I can't help you out with the practice, just the method.
