"The hot holiday item, if one believes the media hype, is the Xbox 360. Short supply and high demand have left many holiday shoppers looking for the console empty-handed. While the thought of parents looking into the teary eyes of children left without an Xbox 360 this Christmas is saddening, imagine the same scenario with said parents paying upwards of $800 for a worthless photo of the gaming system."

The same exact thing happened durring the PS2 madness a few years ago.

'You are bidding on a PS2 picture below'

I think its much easier and far less expensive to just wait in line =)

I'm sure individuals here realize mistakes BEFORE payment made. They have the right to NOT pay for winning bid. HOWEVER, they do get a negative feedback. Save mega bucks !
BUT *common sense* on the bidding sites should note both party stupidity and greed factor and adjust accordingly.

There was also a lot of Xbox 360 email accounts that sold for hundreds of buck on ebay.

The email was something like: New_Xbox_360_Shipping_Today_@something.com So people thought it was actually an new Xbox 360. There are a lot of those scam on ebay. and I tried to contact the ebay fraud department about that and they just don't give a damn about their customers...

bidding out at $400 bucks...

People who do that on ebay are fricken evil! They obviously know that people are caught up in the hype and rush of Christmas and will take advantage of those poor souls. For someone to say they deserved it because they didn't read the fine print is just plain cold hearted.

Let's just say, it's not the first time this has happened:

Education can have a pretty steep price tag to it sometimes.

Reminds me of the many sales of PS2 boxes a few years back. The auctions would go very in-depth to explain that it was the box, not the system, that the auction was for. This would be stated in large, bold, colored text to make sure it gets the point across. Well over 20 people still placed their bids...
Seems to me that when you're putting out that much money for something, you ought to read all of the information on it that is being displayed.

Thats not good parenting!! That's just being a stupid person! He paid $400 for it, and he loses $300 on the sale??

Good parenting would be a good beating and no dessert for a month.

That guy selling his kids Xbox sounds pretty fishy to me anyway... kinda scary actually because:

A. it's only a 100 bucks
B. You have to go get it... (screw that, who knows what kind of freak this is)
C. This guy disciplines his kid by embarrassing him in front of his family and maybe friends.. That causes resentment. That's bad parenting.. disciplilne in private, praise in public.

i don't think it's parenting full stop. what it is, is fully suspect instead. though doubtless someone will fall for it, what escapes me is not that people try it on through ebay and the web in general, but that other people get taken in! if it sounds too good to be true, it generally is.

http://xboxfor100.ytmnd.com/If this is true then , that is soooo cruel , that is one vengeful daddy, it would be understandable if he was selling the xbox, for the sake of paying towards a new stereo, but he just wants to be spiteful. it took me a while to figure out where that hillarious christmas carol was coming from.

Funny story, but praise in the public (for which he doesn't deserve) is really the worst thing you could do to a kid's future.

Anyway, I don't feel sorry for the customers at all. They do not value their money as much as a lot of other people does. So wasting 800 dollars for a XBOX system which only costs 400 from stores is just too foolish. So in their group, at least one or few is meant to doom. Either they have a lot of money to spend or they are too stupid to learn the facts. Both kinds will one day or another will fall into traps.

I am not saying the person who scams doesn't deserve any punishment. Sure, he should be kicked around first and then trown into jail for that matter. But I don't feel sorry for anyone here including the victim.

I'm lovin that this guy is going to give his kid an xbox box full of coal. The kid sounds like a real brat. His parents must be loaded to be able to do this. He's probably spoiled.

dicipline in private, praise in public is just a rule of thumb when dealing with subordinates and kids... When A child does something wrong, you don't dicipline them in the publics eye.. when the something extrodanary you praise them in public..

now now, there's a time and place for ritual humiliation :D

i think that good parenting involves a balance of pragmatism and firm basis/rigidity in approach, otherwise a kid will always find a situation to run rings around you, be it in public or in private. i can't honestly say that i think that post 60's generations of parents have really done that top of a job, for so many they've given so little structure to their childrens lives that the kids have been left feeling uncared for, insecure and massively destructive (oh i hate parents who claim their children are freeing their creativity when theyr'e just being annoying brats).

we have got to rememeber that not everybody is as learned in inernet shopping as we may be. This doesnt meen that the people deserve it sometimes there can be an information overload that distracts the victims from the factt that they are being duped by some kinda internet fraudster, it is just a classic case of misdirection , for selfish gain. these people should be punished and ebay should have some form of rule against this kind of thing.
