Concept Artist/Illustrator wanted for contract work for design of cross-platform adventure game, based on internally developed, original content. The target market, boys and girls 9 years and above. The Visual Style of the game is original, heavily graphic and ‘stylised’, a 2D / 3D hybrid, featuring both human and non-human characters in an imaginative and original alternate world. Design style is bold, expressive and ‘cartoony’, not realistic or ‘real-world’.
What we are looking for:
-Substantial experience preferred in at least one of the following: games, film and broadcast with print work welcome as well;
-Must be confident with both traditional media and digital, from pencil to Photoshop
-Emphasis of this work is on 2D, but 3D skills welcome as well in support of broader, quicker visualization
-Design and artwork is needed for both characters and environments, so solid confidence with either one area or both must be demonstrated with portfolio.
-In addition to very strong line drawing talent, must have confidence with colour and be able to take an idea from sketch form to finished colour artwork.
-Must be visually literate, demonstrating familiarity with a wide range of graphic styles and trends, both old and new.
-Must be able to communicate clearly, participating in critiques, understanding design and art direction.
-Speed a plus, as is a good sense of humour.
