View Full Version : Illuminé [Photoshop + traditionnal]
osgii 12-22-2005, 09:47 AM Hi everyone. This is my first thread here, at the CGtalk's forum.. I'm quite exciting ^^
I apologise about my approximate english. I try to be most comprehensible as possible.
Here is a character made first with a lead pencil. A little beast living in deep caves...

Hum hum.... a foot is missing ^^
And after that, some positions and exressions :

But... I can't stop at this point! I have to make an illustration, with colors, details, etc...
So, let's see what it becomes:

Cristals are now nearly ready! :

Hope you enjoy it. And please, post comments to optimise my character.

I much prefer the pencil versions - very cute. The colored version loses some of the expressiveness of the pencil drawings. I really like him though!

Cool style, I like it a lot!
The colored version is a little hard to read right now, it took me a moment to figure out his pose, but I'm sure you'll get that as you proceed.
Keep it up!

Ha yeah? realy? Interesting. But I think that I can't come back to arrange this problem of expressiveness, at this point of my advance. But I'll think to your comment for my next character. Thank's a lot.

I hadn't pay attention to this point, maybe it's because I have seen my painting to much. Do you think that it will help adding field of depth? Maybe I can blur further parts of the character... I don't know, I'll try. thank's for your precious informations!

I'm still working on Diamonds. That take a loooong time to make them looking shiny... pfiou.
What do you think about it?

You know, I don't think there's anything wrong with the painting exactly, I just think different colors would suit this better and make it a little less confusing as to what's going on. I think it's that there are so many parts that are similar colors all going different ways.....
I like your diamonds though!
If I had a choice, I'd choose the sketch with the creature chewing his foot, that one is funny! :D

I understand what you're saying.
I have make the background more shiny, to detach the character. I hope it will help you all to understand well the creature, and his position.
The hand is nearly finished, and the head is now exactly what I would.

osgii, this guy is really cool! As always it's great to be able to see the numerous drawings created before settling down on one specifically. I really enjoy the detail in the painting especially in the finger joints and skin texture. My only crit might be that I want to see more connection between the character and these crystals growing out of his head. Maybe the areas around the crystals could be glowing from all the rock that could also be below the skin showing through.
totally digging it, keep up the good work!
