Paint with shader?

You can use the shader in the color channel and then make it visible via a painted Alpha channel. Directly painting with a shader is not possible

also, depending on version of c4d you can "bake" and procedural shader including those w/fresnel or camera dependant effects (be sure to enable "use camera vector"!) and then use each bake as a layer... you could even bake or render out a shader or noise on a plane or whatever and then stick the render in your bp patterns folder. but its not really the same is it :(
