Hi, I have attached a photo of a section of a building I am currently modeling. Can anyone offer me some advice as to how I can best represent the level of detail shown regarding the blockwork design, such as around the windows and across the building in general?
I have built the basic shell/skin of the building but I am now faced with the problem of how to add the detail.
Should I build each block in 3d and sit them into the building, leaving them slightly sticking out? Or should this be acheived with a texture and lots of material maps? Any help much appreciated,
Thanks
Barry

the level of detail depends on the what you will be using it for. Leigh has areally good description for resolution of textures. There's a pdf-file here somehere.

Unless you're going fior extreme close-ups I wouln't model each stone separately, the facade is quite smooth.

hope this helps.

(sorry only using left hand to type)
