Hey folks, I need shrink my demo reel from 500M to about 45M for online.
But as u all know the employers may don't have codex installed on their machines, so they won't open ur reel. :(
So my question is: How to( which format) make reel smallest and keep good quaility(at least okay) without installing any extra codex , and all the employers are able to watch the reel online.
Thanks for all input.

I'm not very experienced with compression and codecs, but I will suggest that whatever you use...make it Quicktime. Quicktime runs perfect on Windows and Mac. But just try to run WMP on a Mac...it sucks. Alot of Mac users flat out won't open Windows Media Player files, it just runs horribly.

Food for thought :-)

I need shrink my demo reel from 500M to about 45M for online.

45 MB is still way too big (and probably way too long) I'd aim for 10 MB (and 2 minutes).

Quicktime Pro has a great compressor, on my first try with an 80 MB reel it dropped it down to 7 MB without very much loss in quality at all.

Good luck!

For maximum compatibility, go for MPEG.

However, if you assume people have Quicktime installed (as most graphics folks have), try this
