Hi everyone!!

Which Budget Camcorders would you recommend to be used for learning compositing and vfx works?

My main purpose for the camera would be to get reasonably good footages, which then can be composited with 3d elements and other photos, maybe a little bit of motion tracking. Not so much for green/blue screens. Hopefully can take good pictures.

So after a day researching and doing my homework, It seems that features such as 3CCD and progressive scanning are the 2 most important features to look for in a video camera. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm trying my best to learn all this techie stuff. :)

Since I'm looking for a budget miniDV (less than $1500 maybe). A few options are:

Panasonic NV-GS400
Sony DCR-HC90
Sony DCR-PC1000
JVC GZ-MC500
Sony HDR-HC1

Those cameras are around my budget and seems to be good all around cameras. Note that the GS400 only have 3ccd but no progressive recording. From what I read in reviews, it produces excellent quality footage.

Both Sony HC90 and PC1000 has 'fake' 30p, pc1000 comes with 3CMOS chips and HC90 comes with 1 cmos. The question is does this fake 30 progressive affect me when it comes to get good footage for the type of job?

GZ-MC500 from JVC seems to be nice and comfortable to use since it uses harddisk to store the data, has 3ccd feature, however no progressive and the price is slightly out of my budget.

and the last one is Sony smallest and cheapest HDcam the HDR-HC1. Is it 'wise' to get this camera? By having more resolution is it going to be much better to get nice and clean footage? Although it's obviosly only have 1 ccd and again a fake 24p from sony.

I've trouble deciding which one is best suited for me. Since I'm beginner in this area, please any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
