View Full Version : The best way to make character details (for MR rendering)?
hain3d 12-20-2005, 02:42 AM Hi all,
Could anyone discuss about the best way to make details such as eyebrows, eyelashes, hairs for hires character face (rendering in Maya Mental Ray)? I'm now creating them by modeling method, and using shave for hair (not by apply alpha map). Is it work well when riging?
Thank you very much,

eyebrows -> i paint them with the usual colour map and in the rest of the maps.
eyelashes -> just a plane and texture + you have to set some extra clusters for them(or bind them to the joints if you used some)
hair-> polys + texture + secondry motion throught maya dynamics.(search in the maya forum for more details)

Thank you very much for the reply.
I know that method, but I'd like everyone discuss about the way to make the hires model, like one in FF film. Now I try to model the eyelashes, may be eyebrows, and make character's hairs by using shave or Maya Hairs. But I wonder how to make the eyelashes/ eyebrows/ hairs shaders to render it in Maya Mental Ray (I make the skin Mi fast skin SSS), and how to make rigging of that head (I mean eyelashes/ eyebrows rigging).
Anyone have some ideas to help me?
Thank you very much.
