Just checking, but is this out of date then? XSI Character Animation Vol I

Do the new discs cover the same material and more or is this one necessary as well?
Would be nice if the special ran till the new discs are released, not really interested in out of date tutorials as i've got version 5.

Thanx

Great news Charbel.

I've ordered some of your video tutorials in the past and found them very good. I had my eye on ordering another, I guess this offer is just too tempting for me

Hi Fede,
I am not sure I understand what you mean. If you already got Character Animation I, then you should wait until we release the Character Animation Pro series. Otherwise, none of the info in Character Animatoin vol 1 is obsolete.

Marc, thanks a lot for the kind words.

Hey SeaQuake, apologies for not being clear.

I have not purchased Character Animation I, and want to know if i should get it regardless of the other titles you will be releasing or rather wait as they might cover some of the same topics.

thanx

Hi Charbel!

Where is the part II of the XSI-architectural tutorial - Is it delayed?

SeaQuake

Fede, it's OK. There is no overlap except in the Walk Cycle tutorial part of Character Animation 1. The rest is exclusive to each title.

Hi Chango, it is definately coming early 2006.

I am the putz of the month!!!:applause:! DAMMMIT! I ordered the Char Animation Set from 3d quakers a day late! ARRGH! I was busy working up a speech I had to give in Japanese (45 minute speech) on December 31st. I said 'once I'm done I'll treat myself.' But then came New Years and I went to a Spa and trip with the family for 3 days. Oh well, I hope some of you guys were able to get the discount.

I'll let everyone know what I think of the videos once I'm done!

Cheers!

With cinematic fx series? Is it still going to be produced?

I think Charbel will finish it once the T-Rex stops chasing him around the Office....

Yes it is Bill, the CinematicFX series will be released soon, after 2 or 3 volumes of Character Animation Pro.
The only reason we delay releases (besides being otherwise occupied with production work) is that we want to present you guys with the best possible solutions for any given topic, which does require a lot of research. You will see that in the upcoming RiggingPro titles coming out in a few weeks. That, and being of course chased by that TRex!
From now on, each of our titles will come out in at least 2 volumes, one about theory and another about the practical side of things. For instance, in RiggingPro, the first volume will explain all the tools that are at a rigger's disposal, the pros and cons of each, with examples of their use. The application volume will build the actual rig, which is an IK/FK rig with full interactive control and procedural/interactive walk/run cycle features (more on that later) and show practical ways to use the rig in animation.
I hope you will all be satisfied with the quality of the training material once released.

How are the character animation DVDs coming along?

SeaQuake
02-02-2006, 06:11 PM
Hi Federico,
The first chapter, RiggingPro will be released for 3DS MAX in 2-3 weeks, and for XSI 2-3 weeks after that. I will be releasing a trailer for it within a few days to show what features will be included in the rig, and how it can be manipulated/animated.

Hey guys, just bought the one you had for XSI 4, just couldn't wait for the new one any longer.

Some initial feedback:

All seems really cool except that i really hate the interface you have, unless there is an other way to get around it that i don't know of. It's cumbersome and really not user friendly.

I like to work at 1024 x 768, and hate having to size up my rez.
I use two moniors and I have to switch primary monitors because i can't tell it where to play, so i have to switch to accomodate the player and XSI so that i can follow along.
I prefer a floating window rather than a full screen one.

Look at the Digital Tutors method, it works like a dream.

If you can't offer these changes or an alternative i'm not sure i'll be purchasing other titles.

Thanx

Hi Frederico,
The upcoming training will feature a new player, and will play at different resolutions.

In that case hurry releasing the others, cause i'm enjoying this one so much i'm almost half way through it and will be done soon.

Good training material.

I finished the Character Animation Vol 1 for XSI. I learned so much from that video! It was worth every penny. Of course the interface is a little clunky (and I cannot save the videos out to my PSP) but otherwise they are clear and easy to follow.

I the walk cycle and bird animation parts were especially useful since not many tutorials go in-depth on these subjects for XSI.

Overall, its the best XSI video I own...and I own the Production Series Animation DVD FYI.
