I've been doing all my animation work in messiah now using it as a stand alone application. I'm at the point where I want to start connecting Lightwave to the pipeline. I understand how to get the two connected but I keep running into problems with my scene.

To keep it simple let's just deal with two objects. In this scene I have a character and one item that he is lifitng. In messiah everything is fine, their positions are realitive to how the animation is setup etc. But the problem lies when I connected the objects in messiah to the lightwave hosts.

My steps are these:

1. Start Lightwave layout
2. Start Messiah interface within layout
3. In Messiah I load the scene.
4. When prompted to load the objects into the host I hit cancel.
5. I selected the character and hit 'F12' to load into lightwave.
6. I selected the object which is being lifted and hit 'F12' to load into lightwave.

Once in lightwave the problem is shown below. The character itself is halfway down through the ground plane. But the lifting object is where it should be. No matter which order I load them in it does the same thing. Basically how do I load my objects so they maintain the same positions that they have in Messiah.:shrug:

EDIT:

Just to show that it's a consistent problem for me here is another scene after following the same steps.

Ok I think I might have found out why this is happening. After loading the character object back into Lightwaves modeling application "Modeler". I checked where the pivot point was located. It seems that the pivot point is right in the middle of his waist and the pivot point of the weight is dead center at the bottom. Now with the other pic...the cart has a pivot point dead center as well.

Could it be possible that is is affecting my scene? As I have tried to adjust the pivot point back in lightwave and save the mode. That didnt work....

The pivot point is important only in iterms that are animated (position, rotation, scale)
The pivot point on displaced objects has no meaning.

Make sure that you send the right information.
i.e Animation -> Animation
Displacement -> Displacement

Finally, all animated objects (position, rotation, scale) need a keyframe at frame zero, in messiah.

I agree with this - keep messiah and LW completely separated - it will save you hours and a lot of tears!
