I'm very interested in developing for online worlds, and noticed that "There" (www.there.com) and "Second Life" (www.secondlfe.com) allow players to create and profit from game assets. Anybody have experience with this?

I just signed up for a free 'there' account. It's pretty cool. I'd be interested to here peoples experiences working with it or 2nd life.

Just wondering what the community is like in the game. Is this like a teeny bopper thing or is it quite diverse? I'd like to meet some friends from Japan and it seems like something they'd be into.

There seem to be a number of guides around the spawns to help new players they are all around the 20 plus mark it seems. I did meet a couple of <15 girls who were just typing out rap lyrics. I also took a ride in a flying teacup... which was fun.
Still looking in to the developer stuff. It seems you have to pay (not much) for a dev pack and then pay (again not very much) to submit content but I am yet to see any way to turn game money back to real money.

Just a quick correction about the 'there' dev stuff. It's free to join the dev but it does cost to submit. They claim to cover the costs of someone checking you work.
All these are in 'T' or there dollars. 100 T is 5 1/2 cents so $1 = T1800
So submiting clothing costs $3, an object $5 and a vehicle $7
