hi

ive been working on her on and off for the past couple of days. decided to put her up her to keep me motivated in actually finishing her as well...
body was modeled after Mimi from digimon, face is from a different girl... will hopefully finish the face soon and then stick her together...

the body:

and heres the face...

im not too happy yet with the lips and nose.. i will have to look into that as well as fix the eye sockets a little bit...

im a bit unsure about the eye texture.. maybe i will leave it. maybe not.

so... crits and comments welcome.

 hehe love it !
Mostly the body : from what i remember it looks quite accurate (then again i did not see many eps ...), i am not so sure about the face though : love the eyes but the rest seems underdetailed and a bit flat ( unlike the body wich has just the right amount ).
let's see some wires ( love the boots' structure) !
keep it up ! finish it !!:bounce:

Cool, work :) Would love to see a wire, I attempted a Bart Simpson model, and messed up on the hands (arrgghh, just couldn't get them right). So it would be great to see how yours are constructed, as well as the rest of the mesh.

here are the wires... i tried to keep it as simple as possible.. being a cartoon character of course helps since there isnt THAT much detail.. anyways..

i m not a fan of pokemon but regardless of that, ur model is doing good now.... only thing is u might need more subdivision lines at the elbows.... otherwise, i won't imagine how she could bent her arms.... the arms and legs are too skinny too (like me) ....lol.....

nostrils dont often work in anime models, because they meke a toon fece more real, try to keep the anime fantasy with a tini nose without nostrils. shell look nice

thanks for all the nice replies.. im on vacation right now so it will be another week or so until i get the chance to spend some more time with her...

i did give the nose and the mouth a couple of tries, but they always ended up looking not right which was quite frustrating...

the mouth always ended up looking too realistic or just not cute and bubbly enough.. and well.. the mouth in the reference pic is mostly just a cut in the head.. which i have problems with in recreating without it loosing character... i will try to work on it more when i get back home...

yay.. its alive and back from the depth of the forums. :D

decided to try to finish this one... fooled around with the head a bit. general shape is still giving me a headache. still not quite manga enough... but getting there i think.

comments mucho appreciated...

Im not into the colors on the face, but you're tooottallyy in a great direction. I can see that being an awesome figure in the end, just keep it up. it's very low poly-game material.

ehh.. lack of good pointers in getting the face to look how i wanted kind of led me to other projects.

right now shes sleeping on some backup HD of mine after another computer melt down of mine. i might dig her up soon again to finish her off.

IF i can get those stupid eyes to look the way i want them to.

Are you going for the cell shaded look? I actually also did a character from digimon, Gennai. You can see him here.

i think the face construction needs more edgeloops for animation if you plan on making her into a usable character.

It looks ok for a still cell shaded image, but bit look a little odd animated for talking. From a 3/4 view of an anime character while talking, you will notice that the mouth forms a large hole in the head and is very exaggerated when surprised or whatnot, the construction of the head as it is now wont give that ability to exaggerate.

She needs eyelids that go down to the top of her corneas/pupils. That might get rid of that blank stare shes got goin on. Its so hard to make anime faces look real in 3d.

Other than that its lookin good so far
