Hello!

Q: No matter what I export from Poser if it is .obj .dxf .bhv it opens in FCheck. Am I doing something wrong?

Example: I want to export a walk cycle from Poser and import it to Maya. Then export the model as .obj or .dxf. (Im currently using Maya 4.5, OSX, Poser 4 Classic)...

There is an even better option. It is called Trinity for Maya.
It is a Maya plugin that allows you to read CR2 files directly in Maya. You would load up the character using the plugin, and then you can morph it exactly as you would in Poser (but this is done in Maya) You don't even need to have Poser on your computer. Just some of the characters, such as Vicky 3. Another advantage is that it brings the Poser skeleton directly into Maya, allowing easy animation.

The best thing about the plugin is, however, that it is FREE. It is still in the beta testing phase, but it is extremely useful already. It is well worth downloading if you want to get Poser figures into Maya.

Unfortunately I don't have the link handy right now, but I'm sure somebody will pass it on to you.

Here's a (IMO very helpful) tutorial:

if you'd like to try to manage it by hand without any plug-ins. At least you can learn some basics about character rigging in Maya.
