Hi
fist of all I don't want to start the discussion which software is the best?! again.
I am looking for an editing solution with an external audio editor.
The main feature is to export or send the sequence or timeline to the audio software for mixing and effect work.
I have tried the Premiere Pro/Audition combo, but it seems there is no integration of sending the timeline to Audition. The basic problem is that Premiere Pro captures AVI files and the audio track hast to be extracted before editing in Audition. Seems like a windows limitation.
Second combo was FCP and Soundtrack. That was quite nice. The timeline of FCP could be opened in Soundtrack and the changes are hearable in FCP after closing the Soundtarck project. But trimming of audio clips in Soundtrack was not recognized in FCP.
Pro Tools LE and Xpress Pro is no solution for me at the moment because I don't want to buy another dedicated hardware.
Thanks for any help.

Final Cut Pro + Pro Tools LE = very good integration.

Thank you StudioJ. I will try that in the next weeks. I think I have to buy a Mac in future then. I will wait until next year how the new Intel Macs perform.

I don't know what hardware you do have, but if you have a Windows XP workstation take a look at Vegas - it has great audio editing already embedded within the video editing, you may not have to take it to an external audio app. Plus, no real additional hardware is needed other than the workstation.

My workstation is a Dual 3Ghz Xeon 64bit with winxp 32 pro, 2GB DDR II Ram, 130 GB SATA 10.000 Raid 0 and a Quadrofx 3400 card.
I already tried Vegas. You can do nearly anything with that software, but the interface is very unusual. I tried it with a Decklink card. Preview worked great on an external monitor, but the playback switched between 15 and 25 FPS. Perhaps newer drivers will solve that.
I will wait until the next release version of vegas and premiere pro. Avid Liquid also sound interesting atm, but the dedicated hardware has consumer connections like cinch only.
And if the media management is similiar to Avids xpress pro for example, it is great for editing,
but if you do a lot of 3d animation and compositing stuff the import and export could be annoying. Thanks so far for your comments.

Premiere Pro and Audition. I tried that combo also. Perhaps I missed a feature, but I could not figure out how to export the timeline from Premiere Pro to Audition with all audio edit events. The edit original feature is quite useful. The export feature might be in future versions.
