Stomping along a path. A portrait type of piece. Painter and Photoshop. Hope you like it some.

i like it! i love the graininess of this piece. and the tattoos are really cool. the guy looks very massive, and although the face is done very well, i don't like how it fits with his body. maybe if he were bald or his chin were larger, but that's personal preference.

great job!

i like the lighting a lot.

but it looks like the proportions of the guy is a bit off.

great job though.

I prefer the original stylistically, but when I scale it down a bit horizontally the proportions actually look a lot better to me. (Not sure if it's appropriate to post a pic.) I really prefer the wide version though, just thought that was interesting. And everything besides proportions I absolutely love. I'm not a 2d artist yet so I can't give much crit. Great work!

You really need to go to real paint man. I think seeing the textures and light you do so well on the computer, would look awesome in real life.
Sleepless, not only is your production rate living up to your name, you have us all humbled.

The head does look a little too squashed, top to bottom. But that's it!

Nice :applause:

thanks for the comments folks. Proportionally I can see why ya might have a complaint but the exageration was entirely intentional. Squat, compact and powerful. I should have said that up front. I rarely do realistic proportions because, I just have more fun not doing them. Plus, honestly I don't feel it's my strongsuit.
dmcgrath--I may have retired my paints. Digital is faster, cheaper, and easier and it's still new and exciting for me right now...but you're right some things look better with paint.:)

He doesn't look to squattish to me. I like the proportions and general stout look this one has. The colors and composition are great ... but then again ... "duh! it's from Sleepless!"

The water bottle thing on his leg looks a little out of period for the rest of the character. And there is a bit of his tattoo near the elbow that looks too much like ears to me. Which really bugs me since I can't stop looking at them now that I know they're there.

Other than that ... another fabulous piece Sleepless (I like your knight you posted in the speed thread also).

A very well done pic, Iwish I knew my way around Painter well enough to dare dreaming about doing images like this.

I like it, it has a strong Frazzetta feel to it :) .

Looking awsome (again) Sleepless :)

I just wonder what would happen if you did the following:
add some canvas at the bottom, paint some foreground in it (quite close-up), and paint in some very vague trees or mountains in the back (called "coulissen-painting" in Dutch, dunno the English translation).
It might add some depth in it, and put the center a bit higher cause then it would have some more "base" to stand on (if that makes sense).

all makes sense to me. The layers of depth would help it plenty. Thx for the suggestion. I may re-open this file after I finish a couple of projects and do it right.
