Iīm not exactly sure about the is purpose of this post other than saying, donīt you think that 2.40 is really taking too long to be released?

B-CON 4 was declared long ago, it has been almost 15 days since the last official RC, and the bugtracker has been dancing around 50 bugs for more than a month now.

It is me or time really stoped around 2.40?

Getting the python API finished for armatures has taken longer than expected, once that is done (and the bundled scripts are updated to use it) we should be okay to release.

Besides the export scripts (among wich the DirectX ones needs serious updating), wich ones also use the armatures?

cal3d, armaturesymmetry, fixfromarmature, and bvh to armature,

also there are a few out of tree scripts that support armatures - ogre3d

Yeah, I'll second that query... any new release date set? Or is it indefinite for now?

Tom, since you got better connections than I... donīt you think that having 10 threads marked sticky on the test forums is... confusing?

IMO, there should be the verse one, the pytex one, a recent Tohopuu and the latest release candidates (all RCs in a sigle thread).

I rather wait a few more months. This is a big release, and you bet your life that there will be a lot of stability issues and nasty bugs to tackle. Besides, just enjoy 2.40 RC1 in the meanwhile.

while possible there are lurking issues - I doubt there are going to be many significant ones - haven't had any new crash reports of stuff that hadn't already been fixed in quite a while. Those who are the heaviest users also tend to be our early adapters since the risk of data loss is generally low and the productivity of new features is generally great thus issues are generally quickly found - the only stuff that tends to hang around are either really obscure features, or things that are unexpected use.

So, I seriously doubt that a few more months would help any.

Will there be any UI updates? I remeber I saw for 2.36 or 2.37 ne UI concepts set to be realeased for 2.39 or 2.40.

Some UI updates - part of it was pushed back due to the primary author and primary reviewer being a bit overly busy with Orange right now.
