So, Ive been told to render for a 1024X786 plasma with a 16:9 ratio.

Automaticly that means it uses Rectangular pixels? If so, is that a pixel size of .9 or 1.2, what?

I realy need help with this, this project is getting hecktic. We were rendering a half 1280X720 expecting to use square pixels, now Im all confused.

Help!

I would ask try play a video 1024x768 or a simple photo so you can figure what to do.

I would try a render with a sphere so you can know when seen in the plasma if it is right
or no. Open the render scene dialog of Max. Unlock Image Aspect and enter 1.778 (16/9)
and lock it again, now in Width enter 1024 (horizontal resolution of the plasma) and click with the mouse in the Height number and max set it to 576. Unlock Pixel Aspect and increase it
and watch the Height increases also. When Height is 768 stop. You now have:
Width: 1024
Height: 768
Image aspect: 1,77778
Pixel aspect: 1,333
Render image, you see your sphere elliptical, but seen in the plasma probably it
shows right.
If not then I don't understand why them indicate to you render your image with this
settings. I would try visualize a single frame to know if you are doing right or no.

I agree with boa2 i.e If it looks right on the screen then thats the way to do it... Plus the maths is spot on as far as I can see i.e

(16/9) / ( 1024/768 ) = 1.333333 the pixel ratio

Thanks you guys. :buttrock:
I just remembered seeing a list that had 2 widescreen formats that where the same measurment in pixels but one was square and one was rectangular. But yeah, this all makes sense, and at that size, if i DID need to have it as a square pixel ratio, I can alwayse re-scale the dimensions of the final video I suppose.
