use incidence to drive your reflection

Here's (http://www.visualboo.com/misc/blackMetalForLevi.rar) a base scene for you to tear apart Levi.
Check the current pass' environment shaders. I plugged a environment into it and then a color_share into that and just set it to white to get the background that your objects will catch the reflection from. If you use an output shader with a 2d_background plugged in it doesn't work because it gets applied after the render is finished.
edit: sorry I forgot to mention but that's a 5.0.1 scene.

Just curious, what is the point of using a color_share node here? Do you use that just as a simple constant color?

If the environment is a plain white backdrop, then it looks like there is some sort of fresnel shader applied.

That's in there so you can adjust the color of the background. And yes, it's basically like using a constant shader.
