Hi

I'm a newbe for learning compositing, here is my problem, I render my animation in MAYA 3D software , this is my animation snopshot
http://home.pchome.com.tw/travel/treasuring/pouring.html

but I want to change the background as a 2D picture to simulate the cup placed on the desktop and still keep up the refraction ,reflaction and caustic of the cup and desktop.

I try to apply Use Background shader to the wall in Maya, but it can't render refraction, as follow:
Turn off refraction of the cup-- http://home.pchome.com.tw/travel/treasuring/norefraction.html

Turn on refraction of the cup-- http://home.pchome.com.tw/travel/treasuring/onrefraction.html

How should I do to get this compositing effect? Or you pros can give me any hit. appreciate.

I change the image links today. sorry about the links failure before.

Hi beer56,

The reason why you only see a black glass is that maya is reflecting/refracting the black enviroment of your scene (because the glass is the only obj in the scene).
You should either map a reflection map into the reflection-color attribute of your shader,
or enable raytracing and use a reflection enviroment.

(This is true for images and videos, and if u want to have objects reflected or refracted you should preserve their original shader and in the shape node turn off 'primary visibility'.)

Luca

p.s.
any luck with your project?
