well. a second attempt at modelling cars.

i kinda fell in love with it while working on my fiat, so before continuing on the textures for it i started on this one instead, the dbr9 :

im aiming a bit lower with this one.... maybe 14-15k polys (almost 11 now).

id really really get some input from experienced car modellers what i can do better etc since i wanna learn more. well, here it is. basically, i think most of the body is finished except for the back of it. soon going into details.

the second pic is showing that ive cut away the hood for engine placement.

Hey, good start!

Can't really tell from this angle but it looks like the grill at the front ( with the yeloow lines screaming at you ) is too small.
You've got some tris at the front of the door, not sure why they are there and you could clean up the front diffuser a bit more. Its the only part that stands out as being jagged-y

does hsi stand for HUSSY cos i see youve got a new mistress, your fiat will be gwetting jealous

nice model, and very clean mesh, i tell you what modern cars are easier to model in my opinion, not so many awkward seperate parts, and not as many rounded shapes. having said that this is tres good.

are you going to put an engine in that there hood.

id also throw some more tris around the wheel arches to smoothen it out a bit more. Will there be an interior??

Great job so far, eep going :)

good poly distribution, a slight crit is that the little parts that raise infront of the hood scoops are slightly bigger.

nice model :)

there is a slight shading error on the fender in between the foglight opening and the front of the front wheel well. The poly placement is nice, but with 15k tris, you shouldnt be seeing as many facets on your wheel wells. Keep it up man :D

Now that I look at it more closely, the back corners don't look too accurate. The roof should slope back and into the middle of the car more, or the wheel arches don't come out far enough. The skirting around the rear wheel arches looks like it should stick out further. The front also looks like it should slope downwards much more. Make sure you've got an accurate blueprint to work from :)

thanks for all your opinions. ill work some more today and try to correct all the things youīve all noticed :)

Shepiro: Yeah. its was just great to model this body and itīs really fun and different modelling this from the crazy fiat blobdesign :) And yes, the thought is to put an engine there, the only issue right now are references showing of the entire detail. I only have some official promo photos of the engine, and they show only half. I have to do a bit more research about engine type, and see if producer or other GT cars use this one or of itīs exclusice to the DBR9. I can do it!

Slice56: What do you think would be a good poly-aim for this car? First i was aiming at xbox type racer (they are around 12-15k right? What is their avarage maximum polycount for the wheels/tyres? Im guessing about 1000 with rims, 24-26 sided tyres? Please tell me :).

UnsteadyTeddy: I only had access to a print showing off the side of the DBR9, and the rest where from the standard DB9 and there are some minor differences between the bodies of the two... so most of my work comes purely from eye-measures and the standard weird-angled reference camerashots :) I hope to get a camera soon, and that way have better reference on my next project :D
