im working on a sportscar/hatchback concept car.
as the title suggests, it will be a hovercraft.

ill do most modeling in wings for workflow, and do some touching up and rendering in blender.

and if anyone knows how to keep the hard edges when importing to blender, that would be much apreciated knowledge.

i just got the basic shape outlined.

The laminer flow over the car isn't as important in a hover vehicle. As you are using air to keep the car above the ground anything pushing down on it can be counter productive. That's not to say it should look like it would be aerodynamic. One thing to concider though is that since you don't have wheels you need some kind of RCS type of directional control. Small outlets about the car you could open and close and move air flow from the hover to the outlets to change it's direction aswell as forward and reverse. Even if you aren't using air as a lifting source (anti-gravity energy) you will need something to keep it going where you want it to go.

You perhaps should start out in blender and do a spline model. It's not that hard if you have a 2d drawing(s) of the vehicle. You basically break the model up into crossections and model each section till you have a latuce of the model. It looks like your going for a Batmobile (Batman Begins) look to the car (If you wish to retain it's boxyness). Not a bad idea. This could be even simpler in that you can start off in blender with a latuce and just move the points to get that look. With a little subsurf added you can get a smoother look without collapsing the design. Either way you will need a 2D image of the car. If your in wings you should be able to do a screen cap of the side and front and top. After making sure the caps are of the correct dimensions (H/W/D) you may need to resize them to get them that way. That will do all you need to make it blender.

I don't use Wings so I can advise you on the import difficulties but I do use blender. Your car looks pretty good. A bit like a the Peugot I see many times in the Dakar.

thanks for the tutorial, i was using wings becuase i had not fully explored blender, and im not very good with it yet, and wings has a much better workflow (infact most people who use it say it has the best workflow). but this tutroial should help my knowledge of it. so ill play with this tutorial a bit later. thanx

did alot of cleaning up and work on the edge flow.

here is the update. the red selection shows the primary flow

im happy with the flow now, so now i need to add some detail.

and yeah, i can see a bit of peugot and batmobile style in it

I like the first one a bit better but hey that's me. Smoother is good too. There was something else I remember seeing once. The Taxi ride that Arny took in Total Recal. I think it was a hover vehicle. I tried to find a pic of it but no luck..

Looking forward to more details.

That's one of the texi's from the movie. There was another chase sequence that was perhaps not in taxi (I'm thinking now). I did find some pics of the taxi driver but not the taxi itself. The other car. Couldn't make a mistake on the title. I copied it from IMDB.

Anyway I'm thinking it was the other car if not other taxi as the guy that was helping him out turns against him later in the movie (he's a bad guy to begin with but is undercover somewhat).
