I've created a few poses for a Character defined in Trax editor. The poses funtcion well when I right click on the pose in the visor and choose "apply pose". However, when these same poses are dropped into the trax editor, only the 1st of the poses are represented correctly. The poses down the timeline only have their rotation transforms taking effect.

In fact, if I delete the 1st pose in the trax editor, then the second pose on the timeline changes (recieves its translate transforms) and is displayed properly (because it becomes the 1st pose).

- The control curves moved to create the pose are listed as part of the Character (Character Relationship editor).
- Character only include these control curves and the translate and rotate transforms. As, those are the only items needed to position my char.
- "Include Heirarchy" was turned off when creating the character set.
- "Enable clip" checked on poses.
- "Releative Mode" is unchecked and greyed out.
- Using Maya 7.0.

Any advice would be helpful.

For those who are new to trax editor, let me share the answer I've found. The issue was with the Channel OffSet for each clip or pose. Maya was defaulting to an absolute offset for rotated attributes but relative for tralated attributes. I susspect Maya defaults to accomodate the rotation of joints and not the jump your character around if you are tranlating it in something like a walk cycle. However, for my case, I was translating control curves attaced to joints and IK handles. For these, I needed to set the Channel OffSet to absolute as well. The Channel Offset for each clip can be found in the Attributes box of the clip.

Hope this helps,

-Michael

That was really useful because I am very new to Trax editor and having the same problem just like yours.

Really really appreciate it!
