I have imported a water sim that lasts 150 frames into maya. But the complete animation is for 200 frames. How do I stop the last frame of my water animation from disappearing after frame 150 and have it maintain its visibility up until frame 200 in maya?

Cheers in advance

Is there a way you can bake it and them scale the animation to 200 frames?

What also comes to mind is putting a higher or lower frame-rate either in the scene you are exporting or importing the simulation into and compensate for the slowing down or speeding up of the animation by puting a fractional "by frame" number in the Render settings, will need some maths to get it right though....

No, thats not what I mean.......I want the water sim to finish on frame 150 but still want frame 150 to be visible right through to 200. Should this be easy or is it not quite that simple? Cheers

You can hand-animate the time attribute of the water element.

Or just render it in a separate pass and do a hold on the last frame.

Hi Bonedaddy,

Nail on the head! Both would work for me, neither I have done before, could you explain the process for both for me? I normally use Shake if thats any help, but for this sim, I will leave it in Maya since its just a small project, Thanks guys for your advice so far - rkderj included.

Hi there,
isn't it possible to just select the last keyframe (150), copy it and paste it at key 200? This way the water should stay where it is without moving for the last 50 frames!
Not sure but you could test it!

Bye

yeh, tried that one but the funny thing is is this. The liquid mesh is still in the outliner which means it is still in the scene, also the visibility is still 'on', ha ha ha, so if I duplicate it I still have the same problem yeh?.
I've tried the graph editor to have a go and affect the post infinity of the curve buts theres no curve, I've also had a look at the time node but there doesnt seem to be anything of interest there. I dont want to composite the animation at this stage because I only have to ask the same question there lol.
