i have 3d model which is in maya farmat i.e .ma extensions i want to import it in max.
how can i import this file in max max doesnot support importing .ma files.

try to export your geometry as OBJ the obnly thing is i think you need two things
First
there is a plugin for Max to import Obj files...
you can find it in
www.3dlinks.com ( i think)
and the object has to be closed otherwise the normals will be super messed up in max..
but unfortunatley i don't have max... though we where trying that issue with some friends and came up with those conclustions..

I think HABware has one of the best OBJ importer and exporter for max; look for "max2obj" and obj2max and "max2obj". http://www.habware.at/duck4.htm
On a side note; how would you go about transferring animated meshes back and forth?
