View Full Version : Where did my Biped go?
javierdl 12-09-2005, 10:03 PM This is embarrasing
But I can't find my Biped.
I know is there because I can see all its bones listed in the Skin modifier. And because when I select a bone through the Skin mod, I can go to the Motion tab/Figure mode. I can also see it in the Schematic window.
Yet I cannot see the Biped in the viewports, nor in the list of "Select Objects".
Can someone please enlight me?! :scream:
Any ideas?
Thanks,
DPC

Are you using Max8?I've had some strange bugs like this from time to time.If so then i would shut down Max and reopen the scene and hopefully it will be back to normal.

musashidan, yes, I am using Max8 , the file was originally made in 7. So far it seems very much like a bug, as you suggested.
Kaostick, I did check that, and unfortunately it is not in other layer :(
Thanks anyway guys :)
I guess I'll have to create another one. What I'm looking forward the least is reskining the mouth.

I'm testing A beta of max8 SP1 for a figure mode bug..
you shouldnt have to reskin it...if the data isin the skin modifier and you save out the weights ( i use skin toolset script by anthony delen) you can reapply fresh skin modifier ...bring in your fresh skeleton and import the weighhts back... (using import using index)
anyhow try looking in an autoback file too for a previous version maybe before your biped disappeared
also you say the biped is listed in skin modifier but is it in any way listed in the objects list in the selection list...?
It may have been accidentally deleted from the scene? if that is o look for a version ofthe biped in a previous file or backup and merge it back in ... then try skin tolset to import your weights back on ( you have to first expor them but the data is in the skin modifier which sounds like it may have preserved the weighhting data)

Thank you so much Hugh :)
I read the CS Figure Mode bug? Max8 thread, it explains so much. Thank for that too.
I'll try what you suggested.

post an update if you get your stuff back all happy.
The service pack release will address a lot of the crap that was in that other thread..I don't know when that'll be though. Hopefully soon.
oh I don't know if this is clear but once you export the weights you may want to kill thhe old skin modifier (backup yur scene before)and apply a fresh one...skin toiolset has a "import bones" checkbox so as ong as the appropriate biped/bones are in the scene you can just use that checkbox and the bones will come in with the weights in the skin modifier
