View Full Version : ---> Wolf walk
JimPanse 12-09-2005, 10:22 PM Hello,
yesterday I found that really cool and great working quadped-rig at:
http://www.anzovin.com/TSM2Maya/
Today I played a bit with it and came up with some kind of a generic dog-walk.
This is actually the first dog-like-creature i tried to animate, but i think the results are not too bad... so it would be very nice if you could write some critiques/comments to help me improving that thing.
Thanks a lot guys :)
here is the animation ------>

I saw those rigs the other day, tried one out. I didn't really like the controls that much.
Are you wanting a critique for this animation?
It's hard to get a good grasp of the animation from this close and the angle but look at the wrist joint on the front right paw, it bends boths ways. O.o

Hey OneSharpMarble,
you are right with the paw... i guess that would hurt a real animal.
oops.

hey jim,
nice animation, but i have 1 crit. i think that you have to work and edit the curves a little because the wolf looks like it is sliding or something... if u know what i mean...
good job man... and good luck

Yeah I saw this rig and it looked pretty cool. I really like what you did with it. nice back motion!:scream: Did you have any video reference?

Hey rblitz7,
I'm glad that you liked my test.
I did not use video references, but the instructions in Richard Williams Animators Survival Kit.
He says that quadpeds basically walk like two humans after each other.
When the rear pair of legs is in the contact-pose (the toes barely touching the ground) the front legs are in the passing position (the chest's weight is all over one leg while the other leg is lifted off the ground).
I treated the Wolf's hips and chest as two separate human hips and exaggerated the motion a bit. Thats how I created the backmotion.
Cheers
