View Full Version : Portrait-almost finished any final tips?

Hi all, finished this painting of my friend yesterday...well I think it's finished. If there is anything that could do with some tweaking let me know thanks :)

Oh and the painting may look very sketchy, this is the style I was going for.

It has a very nice ambiance. Kinda French elfin. Its nice to see such a natural looking portrtait.

Three things:

I think the ear needs 'loosing' a bit. It is too sharp against the background.

Perhaps the area behind the head is a bit heavy. Maybe lightening the back of her head a bit would do it. Maybe also lightening the area behind her shoulder or somthing.

Perhaps the line of her jaw is a bit sharp.

This is a beautiful portrait. I agree with Jack's comments and I think I would add some more highlights in the hair above her highlighted cheek. Also lighten the hair a little above the ear.
