I had to try this months' challenge after watching last month. This is my first post ,although I've been working on my entry all month. I was intrigued by the whole concept, so rather than try one category I decided to model a whole scene. (More models, less detail). Did I hear someone say this guy doesn't follow the rules? Anyhow, here's my first character.

Here's another render of same character.

I then added gloved hands, a water jug, and a damaged building in the back ground with a little fog.

My character is now high up on a pile of rubble; below you see the first iteration of my scavenger vehicle. Notice the huge rotating track wheels and the two smaller ones up front, not actually attached to the vehicle. Hey gotta have six wheels!

TURREAL (Technologist United for the Restoration and Renewal of Earth And Life) scavengers stop at a waypoint to retrieve water from a hidden cache. TURREAL referred to by outsiders as SURREAL is a post apocalyptic society formed by scientist, engineers, and others to preserve old knowledge and create new technologies to restore mankind to its former stature. They are hated and envied by other groups for their elitist life style which is a benefit derived from knowledge of old technologies and machines. TURREAL cities thrive while the rest of the population lives at subsistence levels. Some have tried to take TURREAL wealth by force, but they are no match for TURREAL paramilitary Guards. TURREAL Scavenger vehicles make regular visits to the highly radioactive ruins of former cities. Equipped with breathing mask, lead coated uniforms, and armor they scour the ruins for metals, plastics, silicon, and other useful debris. The guards wear light weight uniforms reinforced with high impact plastic armor at strategic points and they carry advanced multi-ammo rifles with tazer bayonets. The scavengers wear a light weight modular life support system that uses interchangeable modules for various environments. The MLSS (mobile life support system) has a ten hour EVA limit. The scavengers also wear high impact arm and leg armor with an ankle length leaded vest coat. The scavenger vehicle is designed for all terrains including up to four-story high piles of rubble. It uses electrical power provided by two compact steam turbine generators. The steam is created in an external tank that uses water (pure or contaminated) and hot (radioactive) metal that is found in abundance at your local city ruins. The huge rotating track wheels depend on traction and rotational position to traverse any type of terrain.

Good work! There are a lot of objects in the scene. IMO though I found that the character seem blocky and the a bit lacking of details. Of course this is WIP, so maybe more will be added. It seem that the suit does not bend very well and he would have to hop to move, again just MHO. Also the hands does not grasp the handle of the box but instead the box sits on the palm. The pose seem rigid. I like all the objects in the scene but the terrain it self lacks hmmm countours? hehe bad with words. Very nice start... hope to see the finish prouduct soon. Yea I know itz hard work to get all the detail, since I can't even model a finger hahah =) Keep up the good work. Sorry you have to take crit from a amature/newbie but I guess 100+ entry is a lot of turf to cover =)...... Once again Good Work!

DarkSy,

Thank you, very much. Don't apologize; your critique is very helpful. What is obvious to an amateur is the first thing that must be corrected. I too am an amateur and my skills have already benefited from participating in this WIP Challenge. I am in your debt. Thanks, again and my you soon model like a master.
