Hi Everyone, I have a question about an animation that I am doing. Here is the model that I made:

This is the first animation that I have ever done and for some stupid reason I picked the hardest thing to do. Anyway, I tried rigging the model with Character Studio, and I also tried bones with FK and IK but I could not get them to work correctly when moving the joints. As of right now I am just using bones that I have in a parent/child relationship so when I move the bones the joints on the model move right. I currently have the model kneeling and I want to make an animation of him getting up then walking away. I am having a lot of trouble with this because its not rigged so I am doing auto key then going from 0 to 400 and at 400 I stand the model up and move it to the position I want. Now, when I play the animation the model moves down past the floor and floats allot. Can anyone help me out here? Is there a way that I can plant it to the ground so it won’t go into the floor or is it impossible for me to do this with out rigging the character? Like I said I rigged it but when I moved the bones (bones and IK /FX) the joints didn’t move right on the model, and in Character Studio I couldn’t get the skeleton to bend the model at the ball joints. Please someone help me out here this is my final for class and its due next week! :(

If your model is floating and doing odd things you didn't plan on, take a look at your animation curves in your Graph Editor (Maya) or whatever, I'm pretty sure you'll have splines dipping below and above what you intended, clean it up and your model shouldn't float anymore, nor dip below the surface.

Can't help you with your problem, but here is a bit of advice..

DON NOT start your final project a few days before its due. Make sure its FINISHED a few days before its due, that way you can sit down with the instructor and make any changes necesary.

The difference between students who start their projects late VS the students who finish their projects early is that after graduation the ones who start late end up making food and serving drinks for the ones who finish early.
