Using both DVI outputs = bad performance?

This is quick question. I'm thinking about hooking up 2 17" or 19" monitors via a dual DVI output card- My question is, will this put extra strain on the graphics card if it needs to power two monitors, or is it no different from connecting one large 24"? As a side question, does running a high pixel monitor affect the cards performance in any significant way? I suspect the card would need to work a lot 'harder' powering a 24" than a 15".

I hope this makes sense...

Truely it shouldn't make it work "harder" then it already is. Ya its sending more info but its built to do this.

Powering a 24" compared to a 15" well if there running the same res, its the smae, if the 24" is running higher, well the 24" will be working the card harder so to say. 2D preformance is not hurt by this since its bearly stressing the card at all. In 3D thats different, but that also depends on the programs too.

Yes, I can imagine that 2D work would hardly stress the card regardless of the pixel size, however I'm mainly using 3D CAD programs like Alias and Solidworks, as well a 3D Max. My graphics card is getting rather old too (quadro fx1000) so I'm a little concerned.

If it works, then theres no issues. Turely the viewports will be limited beause of the slower card but the cards designed to work at full power too. Your not going to damage it but it will probably be considerably slower then a top end of todays cards.

i just scored a free 19" CRT from a friends grandma and i hooekd it up to my gforce GT Ultra on my dual 2 gig G5 and i havent noticed any slowdown in performance on anything i run..its so nice to be able to see what im working on now instead of 50,000 palettes and 30px x 30px window for my artboard..lol
